Vocational Education & Training (VET)

Your child may be enrolled in one or more VET certificate courses offered through the Special Education Training Alliance (SETA) that are taught by VET trained school staff.  These courses are overseen and managed by SETA central RTO based at Western Suburbs Special School (RTO 41021).

On successful completion of the course your child will be awarded a nationally recognised qualification. If your child does not complete the full qualification they will receive a Statement of Attainment outlining the units that have been completed successfully. 

The courses available at Claremont Special School:

  • Certificate I Active Volunteering (CHC14015)

  • Certificate I Agrifood Operations (AHC10216)

  • Certificate I Workplace Skills - ICT focus (BSB10120)

Work Experience

As part of these courses, students in the senior school participate in internal school and external community work experience. Employers supporting student work experience programs may include;

·        Endeavour

·        Ipswich Garden Centre

·        Riverview Garden Centre

·        Camel Farm

·        eWaste Yerongpilly

·        Substation 66

·        Meals on Wheels

Students participating in community volunteering gain experience in giving back to the community, as well as enhancing their skills in experiencing the community, independent travel and environmental education.
