A music therapist visits the school each Monday and Wednesday. Students participate in class group sessions with the music teacher.
Music at Claremont Special School provides various opportunities to improve many key learning areas such as social, physical and communication goals. The activities are offered within a safe, fun environment and may involve turn-taking, waiting quietly for others, saying hello and goodbye, using non-preferred hand for the playing and passing of instruments, writing rap songs together and the making and performing on junk band instruments to help tell a story. The students are also very keen to be given the opportunity to perform publicly to their peers and their school community.
Claremont Special School also has a choir where the students volunteer to rehearse weekly and perform the National Anthem and other songs at various public events throughout the year.
